Properly Quantifying the Seismic Risk of Your Investments
Seattle

Welcome to Seismic-Report.com

The information provided in this website is intended to assist owners, lenders, investors, brokers, providers and other due-diligence professionals in propertly evaluating the seismic risk to real property, in order to assist with business decisions regarding risk retention or transfer for the acquisition or financing of those properties.

Not all reviews are created equal. Generally, the greater the seismic hazard and the larger the project, the more in-depth the review should be to adequately understand and quantify the seismic risk. The article Myths and Misconceptions about Seismic Reports provides additional insight into common misconceptions about PML reports.

"There are dark times ahead. We have the choice to do what is right, or what is easy."

-Albus Dumbledore (J.K. Rowling)

Caution: There are several firms providing Seismic "PML" Reports that are Level 0 reviews (no site visit by the structural engineer, no drawing review, no building stability checks, etc.), despite what they may claim. A FREE Level 0 Loss Estimation worksheet is provided on the Level 0 page, and utilizes a methodology which is consistent with opinions that are provided based on a drive-by of the property or based on photos/information provided by someone else. The spreadsheet does not address building stability even though all levels of the ASTM standards require a building stability check..
